Coalesce returns to Counter-Strike after 18 months of inactivity
For the first time in almost two years, Coalesce announce its return to UK CS, signing a UKIC Masters roster led by IGL Fizan “Fizzy” Anjum.
The British organisation has a unique beginning as it was formed in 2021 following the merger of 6 UK organisations: UMX Gaming, Electrify Esports, Socially Esports, Horus Esports, Peak Esports, and Audacity Esports. They then signed their first Counter-Strike team in August of that year, consisting of the legendary core Tom “arTisT” Clarke, Callum “Girafffe” Jones, and Matas “Extinct” Strumila. With this team, they would go on to win EPIC.LAN 34, the first LAN back after lockdown, and an international tournament, SiGMA Esports Cup in Malta.
Despite the great results, Coalesce would part ways with this roster heading into 2022. The absence of a Counter-Strike roster wouldn’t last long as the British organisation made a big leap into international waters by signing a squad with the likes of Luka “emi” Vuković, Jack “Jackinho” Ström Mattsson and Pere “sausol” Solsona Saumell in February of 2022. This foray into the European circuit wouldn’t last long, as after a string of disappointing results, Coalesce parted ways with the team and proceeded to lay dormant till 2023.

The British organisation would return to its roots, signing a very successful 1PIN, spearheaded by esteemed IGL Ryan “dox” Young. 1PIN burst into the UK CS scene, originally forming at the start of 2022, coming out swinging by winning ESEA Open season 40, only dropping three maps out of 33 on their way to victory while under the banner of Heaven and Hell.
With this roster, Coalesce would win their second EPIC.LAN title at EPIC 38, and internationally made some impressive deep runs in back-to-back ESEA Advanced playoffs and a quarterfinals finish in CCT Season 1 West Europe Series #3. However, only four months after winning their title in Kettering, Sam “Kanny” Hollingrake stepped down as Coalesce’s Director of Esports, and the Counter-Strike followed suit as they announced the team would not renew its contracts with the organisation.
Keeping on brand, for the third time in three years, at the start of a new year, Coalesce welcomed a new lineup. At the beginning of 2024, Coalesce announced the signing of DuckDuckGOOSE who had just placed third at the UKIC Season 0 LAN Finals.
With a new, strong UK roster, Coalesce would find a successful third-place finish at EPIC.LAN 41, and would qualify for ESEA Advanced Season 49 after they made a legendary grand finals run in Season 48 of Main, only losing to Dyanmo Eclot.

However, following the trend, in April, Coalesce dropped their roster and have not been active in Counter-Strike since.
Now, hoping to break the trend and keep a team for longer than a few months, Coalesce have signed a squad competing in the UKIC Season 8 Masters and ESEA Main.
Four of the players on this new Coalesce team have been playing together now for some time, previously under the name CTRL ALT DEFEAT. Even before Fizzy joined as IGL, Alex “f0cus” James, Önder “onder” Tekin, and Sebastian “z_nan” Voss made an impressive top-three finish at EPIC.LAN 44.
These longstanding teammates will be joined by ex-Reason Gaming AWPer James “Flicky” Errington. Flicky has been inactive since Reason Gaming stopped playing together following their Cinderella ESEA Main run in Season 52. Despite not being in an active team since April, Flicky has played in an ESEA Main grand finals, had deep placings at EPIC.LANs, and has qualified for multiple UKIC playoffs.
Coalesce currently sit 4-2 in ESEA Main Season 55 and 1-0 in their UKIC Masters group after they beat The Book Club. Their next game against Washington will decide if they qualify at the top of their group 2-0, and go straight into the playoffs.
Coalesce will be looking for a third EPIC.LAN trophy come February
UKCSGO can confirm that Coalesce will not be attending the upcoming EPIC.LAN 46, but will be aiming to compete at EPIC.LAN 47 in February.
