The day of the UKIC Season 5 Division 1 finals is upon us. An epic rivalry between 8Sins and ALASKA is etching its last chapter in the annals of time.
Ahead of their bout, UKCSGO sits down with the 8Sins IGL John “Dutchy” Holland to talk about how the team is feeling and their preparation coming into this event.
You can find the full video interview at the end of the article.
How are you feeling today about the finals?
Probably comfortable. The days of when we used to play this lineup and they played like Furia are long gone. This game for us is not a grudge match, but we know what to expect from it.
It is not like I am being surprised by arTisT jumping through the smoke for the tenth time anymore.
For you, this is the first time you have been to the Endpoint HQ. How are you finding it?
It is pretty good. No complaints so far, the PCs and monitor are pretty good. I haven’t been here that long but the facilities seem decent.
What has the preparation been like for this final?
Honestly, the prep for this game has been the least prep I have done for any game in a long time. This seems counter-productive because it is a final, but we have played them in the Upper Bracket Final and Final at EPIC.LAN, and played them in the finals of other UK tournaments. We have played them four or five times in two months, I am not sure what other preparation you can do at this point.
Are you guys feeling more confident coming in today? You had a rough start to the season but since EPIC.LAN 44 you have been way more consistent.
I wouldn’t say so to be honest. We have done alright recently but I still think for our standards we haven’t been playing at our highest level. We have been consistently inconsistent the entire season. I don’t think right now is any different.
I don’t think we are on form but I don’t we are playing badly. Every day is a coin flip, if we play shit or good. Hopefully, we play well today [laughs].
