Reason Gaming unveil new roster 24 hours after parting ways with former team

After returning to UK CS in February of this year Reason Gaming picked up a new roster less than 24 hours after they dropped their previous team.

The previous Reason Gaming team headlined by Alex “Byfield” Byfield didn’t have the most successful time under the organisation. At EPIC.LAN 41 they placed top 12 after losing to The Last Resort. Between EPIC.LAN 41 and 42 the main positives were that they made UKIC Divison 1 and came second at Insomnia72. With EPIC.LAN 42 still fresh in our minds, and being a weaker LAN, Reason Gaming seeded in pot one only achieved one placement higher losing to hedgehogpeek.

Reason Gaming stated on X “it is with a heavy heart that today we bid farewell to our CS2 roster. But with heartbreak comes new and exciting times!” And they were not wrong.

As previously mentioned, not even 24 hours later, Reason Gaming already have a new team. Even though they announced that they had dropped their whole roster, Charlie “cJe” Everitt has stayed on. Joining him is a combination of Bhaji5 5 and K10.

Coming from Bhaji5 is AWPer and IGL William “wfn” Maskrey and EPIC.LAN 42 highest-rated player William “Prime” Maskrey. Both players have an immense amount of experience within the UK CS scene, recently placing top three at EPIC.LAN 41 with Coalesce and top four in UKIC League Spring 2024 with Raptors EC.

Finalising the roster is three times EPIC.LAN and UKIC winner James “bevve” Slinn, alongside him from K10 is a late addition Allan “Speedy” Sørensen. Even though they had just been announced for K10 after being dropped from EXO, they were not signed to the organisation. After playing with bevve in K10, he was enlisted to Reason Gaming today to replace MMS who last night decided he was wanting to commit to full time streaming.

As suspected, the turnaround for this roster was very fast. On Monday MMS said that the team originally was built with him instead of Speedy and he would be IGLing. Alongside that Victor “Monsalve” Domingo Monsalve, the previous Reason Gaming coach, would be a part of the roster.

On Tuesday there was contention between them picking up either Prime or Reegan “ReegaN” Ward, eventually going for the former. According to sources, the team also spoke to Viperio coach Daniel “papp” Hart, but he turned them down.

By the end of play on Tuesday MMS had decided that he wanted to focus on streaming and stepped down, suggesting that he would be happy to stand-in for teams still, Monsalve also stepped down.

Now today, Reason Gaming finalised their roster with the addition of Speedy and wfn will be IGLing which he started doing on Bhaji5.

UKCSGO reached out to Adam “Blanks” Heath, the owner of Reason Gaming, about picking up their new team and their fast turnaround:

Letting go of our previous team was a very hard decision. It’s been a while since I’ve worked with a team as dedicated as them but with recent results taken into account it was clear some changes had to be made. The speed at which people take to social media with theories, “leaks” and general comments before any official statement has been made doesn’t make the process any easier and tends to only fuels negative moods.

With that being said, I am very pleased with the new lineup. I feel it is one of the strongest we could have ended up with which is why this move happened much swifter than I expected. I look forward to supporting them through their journey.

UKCSGO also reached out to K10 owner Ethan “Fl0wz” Rogerson about how the situation unfolded from their perspective:

We were operating on a gentlemen’s agreement where-in the team/individuals were always free to leave for better opportunities. By no means does this harm K10 or anything like that, and i wish bevve and the rest of the squad the best of luck.

I am just disappointed in the way this all came into public knowledge and that outright lies are being spread about various parties. Once again this scene has shown the immaturity that we all claim to have moved past.

Reason Gaming will be playing UKIC Divison 1 and ESEA Advanced with the following:

James “bevve” Slinn
Charlie “cJe” Everitt
Allan “Speedy” Sørensen
William “WFN” Maskrey
Michael “Prime” Fury

A new roster, A new Reason.
